How Music supports our school’s vision:
At Great Preston, children will learn to explore, appreciate and love the language of music throughout history in its many forms. They will develop skills to reflect on, critically evaluate and express their own preferences of genres and composers. Learning to play instruments will develop their knowledge of musical terms and techniques, which they will then be given the opportunity to apply to create their own pieces. At first the children will work collaboratively, which will build their resilience and self-confidence to perform and compose individually. By exposing them to a range of instruments and types of music through their school life, we hope to stimulate their curiosity and creativity, giving them an alternative form of self-expression.
