Headteacher’s Statement
A warm welcome to Great Preston C of E Primary school. Thank you for visiting our website to find out a little more about our school. We are an average-sized primary school on the outskirts of Leeds, set in semi-rural surroundings, blessed with ample outdoor space. Our ‘close community feel’ is enhanced by our school nursery, an on-site Children’s Centre and Bright Sparks Pre-School (which offers before and after-school childcare).
Our school motto, ‘Believe and Achieve Together’ best defines what it is we all strive for. The school’s core Christian values of Compassion, Perseverance, Respect and Thankfulness underpin this and are at the heart of everything we do. Great Preston C of E Primary School is a place of collaborative effort, where pupils and staff alike are supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. We pride ourselves on knowing our children extremely well and ensure we nurture the needs of all our learners. We want our children to be happy at school and for learning to be fun and challenging. Our curriculum embraces active, creative learning and is guided by our children’s interests to establish and maintain an intrinsic motivation to engage and learn. We are privileged to have an experienced and talented team at Great Preston: a highly-motivated and committed team of staff and governors, who have the very best interests of all pupils at heart and who go above and beyond on a daily basis. Our teaching and learning goes beyond the traditional academic curriculum and embraces the idea that we must also support our children to become emotionally literate, resilient, empathetic and creative individuals.
Here at Great Preston, we endeavour to prepare our children to be confident, life-long learners: good citizens, who will make positive contributions not only to their local community, but also to the wider world in which we all live.
Thank you for visiting our website - we extend a warm invitation to come and visit us. That way, you can see just what makes us so proud of our school and its community. Feel free to contact our school office on 0113 232 0034 to make an appointment. We look forward to welcoming you.
Best wishes,
Mrs Val Law
