Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
The PTA encourages closer links between school and home through events that raise all-important funds for school. These funds provide materials and activities that support and celebrate our brilliant kids on their learning journey through Great Preston.
A very big thank you to all who have supported the school by donating time and money to the preparation, running or attending of PTA events.
Every year your support enables the PTA to provide:

A book bag for all Reception children as they begin their learning journey (from Sep 2023)

An exciting ice cream van visit for the whole school, celebrating the successful end of each school year

The Year 6 leavers event and photo books, creating magical memories of pupils’ time at Great Preston.
Additionally, the PTA contributes to one special project each year. This has previously included the new bike shed and the full refurbishment of the school library.
Project Playground 2023/24
This school year, PTA will continue working towards transforming playtime for every child!
Play is so important to our children’s educational and social development. Plus, the enjoyment and exercise can also lead to better outcomes in the classroom.
As playground toys have a short lifespan(!) our children need new, and regularly replaced, equipment that is fun, challenging and accessible to all.
This year, the PTA will partner with the pupils’ School Council to ask what playground toys the children themselves would like.
Along with input from our PE Teacher, Mr Parkinson, SEN advice and the playground memories of parents and carers, we hope to provide exciting new playground equipment throughout the rest of the school year.

Easy ways to raise funds for school…
Bags2School donate money to school in return for unwanted clothing, household linen, bags, even cuddly toys. You can place your donations in our new clothing bin or, if you have received our leaflet through your letterbox, on your doorstep for collection.

Want to become more hands-on with the PTA?
PTA meetings happen once a month, or more as we approach big events, but you can attend as many or as few meetings as you like.
At these warm and welcoming meetings the PTA turn great ideas into reality (and there’s usually chocolate!).
You can join any meeting, without notice, by arriving at the school office on the date/time advertised on Class Dojo.
Struggling to attend? We would like to make it easier for parents and carers to join PTA meetings. Let us know how via pta@gpprimary.co.uk
Star Baker? Bob the Builder? Green fingers? Crafty creative? Or simply enthusiastic and willing to muck in?
The PTA needs different skills at different times of the year, helping out in school or working on small projects at home.

We are particularly interested to hear from companies who may be able to support school by donating raffle prizes, funds or providing volunteers to lend a hand at events.
