Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is a government funding initiative which began in 2011, and which is designed to bridge the attainment gap between groups of children from differnent socio-economic backgrounds. Children who have been on Free School Meals (FSM) at any point over the past six years, any children who have been in care for 1 day or more and service children are provided for through Pupil Premium.

At Great Preston, we believe it is important that all children receive high-quality teaching, effective interventions where necessary, pastoral support, and enrichment and enhancement activities (The Great Preston Promise). It is important to recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged, and that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. Careful analysis of the attainment and progress of all children who are eligible for Pupil Premium grants will form a key part of our planning, implementation and evaluation cycle.
