Great Preston Primary School is closely affiliated with the Brigshaw Learning Partnership (BLP) which is a local multi-academy trust consisting of Brigshaw High School and six neighbouring primary schools (Kippax Ash Tree, Swillington, Allerton Bywater, Kippax North, Kippax Greenfield and Methley Primary School).

We regularly compete in inter-school competitions in a variety of sporting events including swimming, athletics, tag rugby and many more.

The Brigshaw Trust supports the development of PE at Great Preston. The Trust provides a comprehensive calendar of inter school competitions, such as a netball and football league, and festivals for all, including skipping festivals and dance in a day. This allows children the opportunity to show healthy participation in extracurricular sport.

The Brigshaw Trust provide PE CPD for our school. This has previously included training with Leeds Rhinos rugby club and gymnastics CPD. They also offer support to the PE subject lead with optional development training, such as joint observations. Finally, they allow Great Preston to work with key external agencies.

This year, the Brigshaw Trust is enabling us to take part in multiple activities including pro-ride cycling, skipping festivals, dance in a day and Big Trust Sports Day. Big Trust Sports Day is a firm favourite of our Year 4-6 children and provides all pupils with the opportunity to be involved in competitions at a variety of levels across a range of sports to develop knowledge of rules, strategies and tactics.
